Since 1937 the Caves do Solar de São Domingos has produced sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagasse brandy, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Its galleries hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of French‑oak barrels for its famed wine brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagasse Brandy, made in proprietary stills, continues to lead the market with the same quality as always. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was opened, allowing the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own estates and from growers working in partnership with the firm. Continuous innovation in production and winemaking has raised the quality and prestige of the house wines, reinforcing São Domingos’s competitive edge. Enotourism is also a winning bet, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, and the showroom, hall and museum with a tasting room, making it an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
