The Quinta de Saes Prolonged Maturation is a red wine from the Dão that combines elegance and depth, reflecting the benefit of a two‑year ageing in oak barrels. Made from a batch of old vines of Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, it offers aromas of wild fruit, herbaceous notes and a subtle earthy touch. On the palate it presents excellent freshness, precise tannins and a long, harmonious finish, demonstrating great balance and evolution potential. The earliest historical references to Quinta da Pellada date to around 1570. The Demarcated Region of Dão was established in 1908, framed by three mountain massifs – Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela – which shield it from Atlantic winds and grant it very special climatic conditions, and Álvaro Castro is one of Portugal's finest producers and the undisputed leader in its Dão region.
