Quinta de Ventozelo As the name suggests, this red wine embodies the true essence of Ventozelo: the fruit’s sweetness, the complexity bestowed by the terroir, and the freshness of the Mediterranean woods. Crafted from two varieties sourced from carefully chosen parcels and lots, its extended barrel ageing has sharpened the delicacy and sophistication evident from the very beginning. A wine made with the patience and dedication befitting a work of art. DOC Douro Plantation The grapes hail from the estate’s most extreme vineyards, aged between 20 and 30 years. Training in both single and double cordon systems. Harvest and Vinification Manual harvest begins at the end of September, with meticulous grape selection. Upon arrival at the cellar, the grapes undergo a double selection: hand‑picked and then processed by an optical sorting machine that separates bunches by size and shape. After a cold initial maceration, fermentation proceeds in stainless‑steel vats at controlled temperature. Ageing 18 months in 500‑litre French oak barrels (50 % new, 50 % used). Analysis Total acidity: 5.2 g l⁻¹ (tartaric acid) pH: 3.56 Total sugars: <0.6 g l⁻¹ Viticultural Year (2015/2016) A warm, wet winter in 2015 was followed by a cold, wet spring in 2016, creating high mildew pressure. Summer arrived hot and dry, affecting exposed parcels more severely, yet yielding excellent results in higher‑altitude vineyards and late‑ripening varieties. SKU: 105163
