Quinta do Cardo is a refined architecture, marked by freshness, lightness, and authenticity. Its white wines are aromatic and elegant. The granitic geology of the Beira Interior Plateau gives them a fresh, mineral character that is distinctive of this high-altitude terroir. White wines from the Beira Interior generally exhibit a hue between citron yellow and straw yellow, accompanied by a rich, diverse aromatic expression that is predominantly fruity. In the mouth they reveal a medium body, moderate alcohol, and vibrant acidity, which provide freshness and balance. They also have good persistence and excellent aging potential. **Vinification:** This Grande Reserva originates from the oldest vines of Síria, planted at 750 meters altitude. The grapes are hand‑picked and pressed whole, using only the first crushes of the press. The wine is then fermented in new and used French oak barrels of 500 L, where it remains for a year on the total lees. The biological production of Quinta do Cardo’s wines—pioneering in Portugal—promotes the preservation of native fauna and flora, fostering biodiversity in the agricultural ecosystem. This sustainable approach also has a decisive impact on the quality and expression of the wines produced at the estate. The Quinta do Cardo Branco Grande Reserva is a DOC Beira Interior wine, high‑altitude, produced biologically. Located on a predominantly granitic terroir and sustained by almost a century of wine‑making tradition, the estate’s vines yield wines that stand out for their unique identity and the sensory and cultural experience they offer. The first wine at Quinta do Cardo was produced in the 1930s and was called Branco Maia. In 1986 the first white wine was bottled under the name Quinta do Cardo.
