Quinta Do Cardo Biológico Tinto

Description

The Quinta do Cardo belongs to the Beira Interior region, the Castelo Rodrigo sub-region, and is located near this village. The vineyards, grown at an average altitude of 750 metres, are sheltered by the Marofa and Castelo Rodrigo mountains and surrounded by the Douro, Coa and Águeda rivers. With a total area of 180 hectares, of which 69 are vineyards, all certified in organic production, the rest host a vast reserve of olive trees and natural forest. The first vines were planted in 1932 and the recognition of the wine quality has been constant over the years. The Companhia das Quintas acquired the property in 2001 and maintained the unquestionable quality of the whites while demonstrating the potential of quality reds in the region. With an uncommon style in Portugal, the reds from Quinta do Cardo feature balsamic notes, great freshness and complexity.
