Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has carved a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company began by making wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa expanded, acquiring estates across the country and setting new standards for quality wine production. The winemaking centre for all its Alentejo wines is located at Quinta do Carmo, a modern cellar capable of producing 3 million litres. (illustrative image)
