The Quinta do Côa is one of the Roboredo Madeira family’s estates, located in the Upper Douro region between the village of Almendra and the right bank of the Côa River. The roughly 80 hectares of the estate sit on Xistosa soil, exposed to east and south, at elevations ranging from 130 to 300 m. It is cultivated organically, strictly using native regional varieties—including vines, olive trees and almond trees. Set in a microclimate of high temperatures and low rainfall, the wines of Quinta do Côa are distinguished by their aromatic purity. In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, in the rugged zone between the Upper Douro and the Upper Beira, Rui Roboredo Madeira’s family nurtured a passion for the aromas and scents of the land that shape his character. After years of experience and living in other parts of the world, Rui brings back to his roots what he has learned, launching a personal wine‑making project that always respects nature to the fullest.
