Crasto Reserva Vinhas Velhas is crafted from grapes sourced from the old vines of Quinta do Crasto, whose average age is about 70 years, in an authentic blend of the best the Douro has to offer. After 18 months of ageing in French and American oak barrels, it presents a complex aroma where fruit and wood are perfectly integrated, complemented by elegant spice notes. On the palate it delivers great intensity and depth, balanced by a firm tannin structure and a long, persistent finish. Located on the right bank of the Douro River, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto is a property of about 130 hectares, of which 70 are planted with vines. The estate’s portfolio also includes Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of old‑vine, and Quinta da Cabreira in the Upper Douro, with 114 hectares of vineyards. With a privileged position in the Demarcated Region of the Douro, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for more than a century. As is common with the great estates of the Douro, the origins of Quinta do Crasto date back to ancient times – the name Crasto comes from the Latin *castrum*, meaning “Roman fort.” (Illustrative image only)
