The wine of Quinta do Cume is born on the sun‑kissed slopes of the old land of Provezende, a historic village on the right bank of the Douro River, in the heart of the Douro Wine Region—an area demarcated and classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site since 2001. Jorge Tenreiro, a surgeon by trade who has always been passionate about the Douro, chose Provezende to bring his dream to life, one that combined all the elements for an excellent wine: uneven terrain, alluvial soil, proximity to water, ideal sun exposure, and altitude (600 m for the white wines) along with the lower vineyards of Provezende for the reds—an unrivalled terroir that imparts unique oenological qualities. An in‑house winery built from the ground up and equipped with modern technology allows the selected winemaker, Jean‑Hugues‑Gros, to craft quality wines. (illustrative image only)
