In order to pursue his passion for wine and the Douro region where he grew up, José Carlos Monteiro Pinto decided in 1998 to set up a company dedicated to producing the nectar of the gods. He was 30 at the time and dreamed of having his own project. Today that dream is a reality: the company he founded bears his name, manages 22 hectares of vines, and aims to sell 300,000 bottles this year. “Only with a great passion for wine, for what it represents, combined with a tremendous capacity for sacrifice and dedication, can one succeed in this field,” José Carlos Monteiro Pinto reveals.
