Quinta do Infantado **The Red Wine – Quinta do Infantado Reserva** This wine is crafted from Class A vineyards (the highest classification in the Douro Demarcated Region) planted on clayey, low‑fertility soils. It is a field blend of more than twenty grape varieties grown in the old vineyards; in the newer vineyards the dominant varieties are Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz. All vines are managed under certified integrated production, aiming to minimise environmental impacts. **Vinification** The grapes are transported in 20‑kg crates, undergo mechanical crushing with partial destemming, and are fermented on the crush pad using foot‑treading. Indigenous yeasts are used. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless‑steel tanks. The wine ages in both stainless‑steel tanks and in new and used French oak barrels. Bottling occurs on the estate, without co‑mashing or filtration, on 1 September 2011. 198 magnums were produced, each numbered. **Tasting notes** The 2009 Reserva red can be enjoyed immediately, or for those who enjoy bottle aging, it can be stored for several more years.
