The wines of Quinta do Infantado are produced, aged, and bottled on the estate itself, which sits on the northern bank of the Douro near Pinhão, in the Gontelho sub‑region—an area long celebrated for the excellence of its vineyards. In the late 19th century the estate was acquired by João Lopes Roseira, an ancestor of the current owners. Since then the Roseira family has gradually expanded the vineyard area and focused on producing and aging fine wines. In 1979 the first Quinta Port wines were released, reviving a tradition that had been dormant for more than five decades. The estate covers roughly 23 hectares of vines that hold the highest classification within the Douro Demarcated Region, a fact that has inspired the family to refine traditional winemaking techniques in the lusher and, drawing on the exceptional grapes grown there, to create natural Port wines of the highest quality.
