The wines of Quinta do Infantado are produced, aged, and bottled on the estate, located on the northern bank of the Douro near Pinhão, in the Gontelho sub‑region, long renowned for the excellence of its vineyards. In the late 19th century the estate was acquired by João Lopes Roseira, ancestor of the current owners. Since taking ownership, the Roseira family has steadily expanded the vineyard area and focused on the production and ageing of fine wines. In 1979 the first port wines from the estate were released, reviving a very old tradition that had been lost for more than 50 years. The estate spans about 23 hectares of vineyard, classified with the highest rating in the Demarcated Douro Region (Class A), a fact that inspired the refinement of traditional crushing techniques and, taking advantage of the excellent grapes grown there, the creation of the highest quality natural port wines.
