Bottles of older wines may show dust traces and damaged labels, which is to be expected given their age. The National Cellar takes care to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always opts to preserve the visual appearance that comes with age. We select brands and regions that, by normal, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of aged wines. However, we do note that wine is a living organism that, even when sealed in a bottle, its aromas are subject to different evolutions over time. Thus, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine breathe beforehand, as this helps release its natural aromas after many years closed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, make sure to do so patiently to detect the appearance of sediment that an old wine tends to develop. (Illustrative image)
