A Quinta do Portal is a Portuguese, family‑owned, independent company that has wholeheartedly embraced the concept of a “Boutique Winery”. Beyond producing special‑category Douro and Port wines, it also focuses on the exclusive production of Douro Muscat and olive oil. This project, realized in the early 1990s, was based on Quinta dos Muros, a century‑old estate of the Mansilha family, and on the Port wine that had already been produced there for four generations. With a forward‑looking vision, they immediately bet on creating internationally‑class Douro wines, becoming part of the first group of the new generation of Durriense producers focused on quality. Thus, the theme of “Sustainability” also became part of Quinta do Portal’s daily routine, with vineyards practising Integrated Production and required to adhere to certain standards to ensure environmental protection. They are also members of The Porto Protocol, a movement whose values are Sustainability, Optimism, and Sharing, through Responsibility, Collaboration, and Commitment, promoting a world where companies unite efforts and act together to delay and alter climate change.
