This Alvarinho from Quinta do Rol clearly benefited from a rather indulgent approach – a gentle pressing speaks volumes about the grapes’ care, and the cool fermentation at 16°C ensures the varietal’s finesse isn’t lost to excessive heat. The lees ageing then layers in a welcome complexity and a delightful salinity, a true reflection of the Douro’s unique terroir. Perfect with grilled white fish or fresh shellfish, really.
