The Quinta do Sanguinhal Grande Escolha was produced with Castelão, Touriga Nacional and Aragonez grapes. This wine aged for 36 months in French oak barrels, displaying a deep garnet colour. The elegant aroma reveals ripe dark fruits, balanced with balsamic and spice notes and a subtle hint of tobacco. Firm tannins and an excellent harmony between fruit, wood and acidity give it great gastronomic potential. The Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, he owned the largest network of retail outlets in the country, using his position to create a company dedicated solely to wine production and trade. The company comprises three estates – Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de São Francisco – located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here, the estates benefit from a microclimate shaped by the Serra de Montejunto and the Atlantic Ocean, which imparts a fresh and balanced profile to still, fortified and spirit wines, revealing their unique character.
