This Bairrada Chardonnay from Quinta do Valdoeiro certainly has a playful personality, doesn’t it? Initial aromas hint at a delightful childish sweetness – think ripe bananas – but quickly develop into a wonderfully refreshing tension, with a viscosity that’s surprisingly assertive. The clay-chalky terroir clearly imparts a remarkable acidity, and despite the abundant fruit, this wine possesses a firm structure. It’s a fantastic pairing with seafood, and its complexity has earned a well-deserved 16.5 points from *Revista de Vinhos*.
