This Quinta do Vale Meão Port is the product of serious patience and painstaking attention to detail, nurtured by a remarkably cool and dry year. The Tinta Barroca, predictably, led the charge alongside Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, unfolding its complexities slowly and deliberately under the summer evenings’ cool influence. A deliberate, extended harvest, carefully monitored, resulted in a well-balanced maturation, mitigating the vines’ water stress. The traditional foot-treading in granite lagares – a lovely nod to heritage – combined with spontaneous fermentation, delivers a remarkably complex and age-worthy Port; ideally paired with grilled fish or a fine cigar.
