This rosé from Quinta dos Castelares, crafted with Touriga Nacional and Pinot Noir, is a wonderfully honest expression of the Douro Superior’s rugged character. Harvested by hand from the schistous slopes between 500 and 600 metres in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, the grapes really showcase that distinctive schist terroir. Gentle winemaking – with precise temperature control and inert gas pressing – ensures the elegance of the Touriga Nacional shines through, promising a wine with a lovely tannic texture and bright fruit aromas. It’s fantastic with grilled fish or a selection of artisanal cheeses, really.
