Manel Chaves is the father of enologist Hugo Chaves from Quinta dos Monteirinhos. This wine is the result of the son’s longing for his father, who left early. He spent 15 months maturing in French oak barrels. With a ruby hue, it bursts with aromas of dark fruit, eucalyptus, cocoa and tobacco. The texture is silky, ending in a fine, elegant finish. It pairs wonderfully with roasted meats and fish. The Monteiro Albuquerque family has been producing wines for over a century and across seven generations. In 2006, the fifth generation of the Monteirinhos launched a producer‑bottler project under their own label, reorganising the vineyards and building a new, modern cellar. This agricultural initiative aims to honour the legacy of a Beira Alta farming family while promoting the excellence and elegance of Dão wines. (illustrative image only)
