Manel Chaves is the father of Hugo Chaves, the winemaker at Quinta dos Monteirinhos. This wine is a tribute born from the longing of a son who saw his father pass away far too early. It was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels. Ruby in colour, it is exuberant on the nose, with notes of black fruit, eucalyptus, cocoa and tobacco. The texture is silky, with a fine and elegant finish. It pairs excellently with roast meat and oven-baked fish. The Monteiro Albuquerque family has been producing wines for more than 100 years, across 7 generations. In 2006, the 5th generation of the Monteirinhos family decided to launch an estate-bottled project under its own brand, with the restructuring and organisation of the vineyards and the construction of a new, modern winery. This agricultural project seeks, on the one hand, to honour the history of a farming family from Beira Alta and, at the same time, to promote the excellence and elegance of Dão wines.
