The origins of Quinta de S. João Batista are lost in a tapestry of noble inheritances, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of the Enoport Wines Group, and since then the estate has undergone extensive vineyard restructuring and the construction of a modern winemaking center. Located within the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve since 1981, Quinta de S. João Batista is steeped in centuries of history, highlighted by its colonial manor house and an excellent network of wine‑storage caves. The property covers roughly 145 hectares, of which about 130 hectares are planted with vines. (Illustrative image)
