The quality of the grapes stems from natural soil and microclimate conditions, but also from careful cultural practices that treat the vines delicately and pinpoint the optimal ripeness for harvest – a critical phase for defining the wine’s performance. In vinification, Quintas de Melgaço follows traditional enological methods deemed best for the sub‑region, extracting every ounce of quality from the grapes that arrive at the cellar. It is during this stage that the estate carefully imparts its own identity to the wines it produces. Prior to bottling, specialists ensure the wine’s chemical composition is correct, it is properly clear, and it demonstrates quality on tasting. For certification, the wine is submitted to the laboratory of the Comissão Vitivinícola da Região dos Vinhos Verdes, which, after approval, issues guarantee seals.
