This Moscatel from Quinta do Casal da Granja, admittedly the largest Moscatel vineyard in the Douro, is a delightfully rebellious exercise in elegance. The interruption of fermentation with grape spirit lends it a wonderfully spirited character, beautifully balanced by 18 months ageing in oak vats – a touch that’s clearly impressed the judges, earning them a Douro Wine Star. It pairs exquisitely with aged cheeses and plump raisins, of course.
