This “Zizi” from Reguengo, perched at 735 metres, feels like it was dreamt up by a particularly thoughtful spirit rather than a winemaker. João Afonso, championing his “Slow Wine” philosophy, wisely let nature dictate the fermentation, ageing it in vats that undoubtedly have their own tales to tell. It’s a wine for those who cherish a measured pace, wonderfully paired with aged cheeses and a hearty slice of homemade bread – a truly restorative combination.
