The painstaking winemaking – with Encruzado and Touriga Nacional harvested separately before a delightfully complex reunion – is truly remarkable. Prolonged maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeasts (presumably whispering secrets to the wine) deliver a truly enigmatic character. Despite its delicate appearance, this wine holds its own admirably. Following time spent breathing in new French oak barrels, it bursts forth with fresh, vibrant fruit – a pleasant surprise, indeed.
