Rivers-Marie Rivers Marie is a passionate project owned and run by the husband and wife team Thomas Rivers Brown and Genevieve Marie Welsh, who grew up in Sonoma. The project was founded in 2002, producing absolutely tiny amounts of wine from the Summa vineyard. Brown was already one of the most sought-after consulting winemakers in Napa, crafting extraordinary Cabernet, but he wanted to make wines inspired by Burgundy and Barolo. Today, Rivers-Marie produces Pinot and Chardonnay (and some Cabernet) from coastal sites across the West Coast, as well as Summa. The wines have a Burgundian tilt in style – but they are very representative of the Sonoma Coast – and are among the best examples of Sonoma Pinot you will find.
