Romanée-Conti is almost a magical name in the wine world. However, few know it refers to two distinct things. On one hand, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the name of the winery that seduces wine lovers around the globe and is arguably the world's best producer. It currently markets wines from eleven distinct vineyards, all located in the Côte d’Or. Furthermore, Romanée-Conti also refers to a specific vineyard (and Grand Cru appellation) that, due to its importance and mystique, has given its name to the winery. This is because, as a monopole, it’s exclusively owned by the winery itself, contrasting with vineyards like Clos de Vougeot, which has dozens of owners.
