Founded in 1850 by the patriarch of a Portuguese family, Manoel da Rocha Romariz, the Romariz estate initially focused on trade with Brazil and former Portuguese colonies, eventually expanding to England and establishing itself as a benchmark brand in quality wine production in the domestic market. In 1966 it was acquired by Guimaraens & Cia., which concentrated on the national market to solidify the brand. However, in 1987 it became part of an English group that centered on developing and promoting Porto Reserva Latina, which today is the true brand identity of Romariz.
