This Châteauneuf-Rôse from Pigoudet is impressively meticulous – it feels like it came straight out of a wine-making instruction manual. The direct pressing clearly aimed for maximum colour and aroma extraction, followed by a rather grand racking process. Fermentation was carefully controlled, almost as if creating a miniature climate in the stainless steel tank. While the stabilisation and filtration seem a touch obsessive, the result is undeniably a crowd-pleasing wine – perfect with some charcuterie or a hearty moules marinière, wouldn’t you say?
