“El Galipote 0.70L” – a name that certainly conjures a sense of sugarcane heritage. This is a deeply rich, dark rum with a beautiful caramelised sugar note, reminiscent of honey and a lingering coffee finish. Subtle spices – cinnamon and clove – intertwine with a touch of vanilla, hinting at considerable time spent ageing in oak barrels. It’s garnered some awards, of course, but the real testament is in the flavour; perfect with a decadent caramel pudding or a generous wedge of aged cheddar.
