This Sagrado Vinhas Velhas is clearly a wine that’s been given a serious squeeze – and not just by the grapes! The aromas are intensely concentrated, dominated by a burst of blackcurrant hinting at vines of truly ancient origin, alongside flashes of strawberry and a touch of French oak maturation (18 months, no less!). On the palate, it’s equally powerful, with a hint of black tea reflecting the region’s heritage, and of course, a persistent finish that encourages you to linger over every sip – I’d pair it with a hearty beef roast, absolutely.
