The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scotsman from Perth who decided to invest £300 borrowed from his father in a venture to market Port wines and Jerez. Ever a pioneer, Sandeman was the first company to fire‑mark a cask with its name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and on expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman clearly positions itself as the “world’s leading” brand of Port and Jerez, proudly proclaiming: “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image presented.
