Due to the limited contact with the wood (because of the small surface-to-volume ratio), they retain their original characteristics for longer, thanks to low oxidation. They are therefore very fruity wines with a deep, dark colour (ruby), showing flavours of red fruit (wild berries or plums) and the character of young wines.
