The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scotsman from Perth who decided to invest £300, borrowed from his father, in a venture selling Port wine and Jerez. Always pioneering, Sandeman was the first company to fire‑seal a barrel with its own name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. For more than two centuries, Sandeman’s success has rested on a rare capacity for innovation and the expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly positions itself as the global brand of Port and Jerez and proudly signs, “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image shown.
