The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scotsman from Perth who invested £300, borrowed from his father, to launch a business trading in Port wine and Jerez. Pioneering from the start, Sandeman was the first company to brand a “pipa a fogo” (a fire‑bubbler) with its name, ensuring the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and the expertise passed down through generations. Today, under the ownership of the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly positions itself as the world’s leading brand of Port and Jerez, bearing the motto “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image shown (illustrative only).
