The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scot from Perth who decided to invest £300, borrowed from his father, in a business trading Port and Jerez wines. A consistent pioneer, Sandeman was the first Company to brand its casks with its name by fire, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and on expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly positions itself as "the" world brand of Port and Sherry, and signs off with pride: "Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure."
