The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scot from Perth who invested 300 pounds borrowed from his father to launch a business trading Port and Sherry wines. Pioneering from the start, Sandeman was the first company to brand a cask with a flaming label bearing its name, ensuring the quality of the wine it sold. For more than two centuries, Sandeman’s success has been built on a rare capacity for innovation and a tradition of expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, under the ownership of the Portuguese group Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly claims the title of the world’s leading Port and Sherry brand, emblazoned with the slogan “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image shown.
