The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At the time, Abel Pereira da Fonseca owned the largest chain of public wine retail outlets in the country, and he leveraged that position to create a company dedicated solely to the production and trade of wine. The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company consists of three estates: Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco, located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically within the demarcated region of Óbidos. These properties benefit from a microclimate shaped by the Montejunto mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, giving the still, fortified, and distilled wines a fresh and balanced profile that reveals their unique characteristics.
