Saxenburg is one of South Africa’s oldest estates, and it is surprising that its history dates back to 1693. A few centuries later, specifically in 1989, Swiss Adrian Bührer acquired the estate and hired Dutch winemaker Nico Van der Merwe, turning it into one of the continent’s most recognised wineries. The Private Collection, aimed at demonstrating the potential of the estate’s terroir, is its most prestigious line, and its white Sauvignon proves this extensively, year after year.
