As the saying goes, “a fish’s child knows how to swim.” This old proverb fits Thomas Haag perfectly, the son of our well‑known friend Fritz Haag. Schloss Leiser is a highly regarded producer in the Mosel, which, for decades from 1910 to 1970, crafted some of the region’s finest wines. Fate seemed to have the estate fall into decline from 1970 to 1992, as constant changes of ownership and philosophy took their toll. In 1992, Thomas became the winemaker and General Director of the company. Drawing on the knowledge he largely acquired alongside his father at Fritz Haag, it was only a matter of time before he bought the estate and its vineyards. Today, Schloss Leiser has returned to the track of quality and already occupies the prominent place it has always deserved. In recent years, its wines have earned staggering scores from top critics worldwide. *(illustrative image only)*
