The estate, where the Serras de Grândola wines are produced, has a 50‑year‑old vineyard planted in 1961 and a new one from 2008. The vineyards are situated about 10 km from the shore, between Aberta Nova beach and Galé beach, and benefit from Atlantic breezes. They also sit 150 m above sea level on the west slope of the Serra de Grândola, providing the night‑time coolness needed for proper ripening. The soils are highly mineralised, dominated by iron and slate, which add to the site's uniqueness. The wines are made in the estate’s cellar with the help of the whole family. The soils are low in organic matter but rich in iron. Winner – Press Choice Contest 2015 (illustrative image).
