The estate, where the Serras de Grândola wines are produced, boasts a fifty‑year‑old vineyard planted in 1961 and a newer plot from 2008. The vineyards lie about 10 km from the coast, between Praia da Aberta Nova and Praia da Galé, subject to Atlantic sea breezes. They are also situated at an altitude of 150 m on the western slope of Serra de Grândola, which provides the necessary nightly coolness for proper ripening. The soils are highly mineralised, dominated by iron and slate, which enhance the distinctive character of the location. The wines are made in the estate’s cellar with the help of the whole family. The soils are low in organic matter with a strong predominance of iron. (illustrative image)
