The bottles of older wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, which is expected given their age. The National Wine Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that comes with their age. We select brands and regions that, by default, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of older wines. However, we note that wine is a living organism that, even when sealed in a bottle, is exposed to time and its aromas evolve in various ways. Thus, the National Wine Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate beforehand, as this will help release its natural aromas after many years of being sealed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, do so patiently so you can detect any sediment that a typical old wine tends to develop. (Illustrative image only)
