Somnium - Douro Branco

Description

This “Somnium” from the Douro is a seriously ambitious wine – it’s clearly aiming to bottle the very soul of the river. The Rabizos grapes, a truly iconic Douro variety, show a remarkable rustic expressiveness, hinting strongly at the region’s unique terroir and delivering a wonderfully earthy complexity. A pairing with grilled cod with potatoes and grão-jambo would be particularly well-suited to tame its intensity, and frankly, that Wine Spectator gold medal should be taken as a very good sign.
