This Setúbal Castelão arrives with a colour that certainly delivers – a ruby granite hinting at the intensity within. The nose reveals a promise of spice – perhaps a touch of black pepper – alongside ripe compote fruit, an invitation to savour. On the palate, the structure is robust, with generous tannins providing body and presence, all in perfect balance, reminiscent of the region’s award-winning wines, much like the praise it received during the Fernando Claro tasting. Wonderful with grilled red meats or a hearty bean stew, no doubt.
