Taylor's Tawny 10 Years Old is an excellent example of an aged-designation Tawny Port, made from selected red Port wines sourced from the finest vineyards in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. The wines are aged in wooden casks of roughly 630 litres capacity for an average of 10 years. During this time, they lose their initial dark, purple-black colour and acquire the delicate golden hue ("Tawny") from which the wine takes its name. Velvety and elegant, combining subtle wood notes with rich aromas of ripe fruit, Taylor's aged-designation Tawnies are bottled for immediate enjoyment. The Tawny 10 Years Old is the market leader in the United Kingdom. According to Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: "In my opinion, Taylor's Tawny Ports are the best of their type. When tasted alongside other Tawnies, they consistently show more aromatic personality, better fruit and maturity, and a wonderful sweetness and persistence. The Tawny 10 Years Old is my favourite, and also the best value among these Ports." A delicious dessert wine that pairs particularly well with flavours of almonds, wild berries or dark chocolate.
