The Pico Island Wine Cooperative was founded in 1949 when local growers joined forces to revive noble grape varieties and the stone‑barn viticulture tradition, now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the years, more members have joined this cause, bringing the total to 250—including women, men, and families who devote their lives to their passion and to a centuries‑old art. With 70 years of history, it remains the oldest wine producer in the Azores, continuing to respect and preserve its viticultural traditions. This partnership underpins the quality of wines made from Azorean soils.
