Description

Terras de Lava Branco is an Azores wine that combines indigenous grape varieties with European varietals, reflecting the uniqueness of the archipelago's volcanic terroir. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 4 months on fine lees, it reveals aromas of tropical fruit and citrus, wrapped in a distinctive mineral expression. On the palate, it stands out for its excellent body, freshness, and a saline finish that is persistent and deeply Atlantic. The Pico Island Winegrowers' Cooperative was founded in 1949, when local producers joined forces to revive the noble grape varieties and the tradition of growing vines in stone-walled corrals, today classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the years, more members have joined this cause, and the cooperative now counts 250 members, women, men, and families who dedicate their lives to their passion and to an age-old craft. With 70 years of history, it is the oldest wine producer in the Azores and continues to respect and preserve winemaking traditions.
