The Pico Island Viticulture Cooperative was founded in 1949 when local growers joined forces to revive noble grape varieties and the tradition of stone‑pit vineyards, now listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Over the years more members have joined this cause, bringing the total to 250, including women, men and families who devote their lives to their passion and a centuries‑old art. Today, with 70 years of history, it is the oldest wine producer in the Azores and continues to respect and preserve viticultural traditions.
